Texas, a state known for oil production, has become a leader in the development and use of renewable energy, especially wind power. And solar energy production is growing rapidly in the “Lone Star State,” spurred on by its abundant sunshine and the sharp drop in the price of solar panels in recent years. As VOA’s Greg Flakus reports from Houston, economics supersedes politics on this issue. Originally published at - http://www.voanews.com/a/3565006.html

Visit http://www.gosolartexas.org for more information. Utility scale renewable energy has proven to be a reliable source of electricity for Texas. Solar energy is rapidly expanding across the state of Texas and is a compliment to the ever expanding wind energy already in place. These renewable resources are a benefit to the energy security of the state.

Hello thank you for checking out my video. My goal is to help get as many renewable energy systems installed as I can. This video is about the 30% Federal Tax Credit offered for Solar Electric installations. There are state and local incentives available that I will cover in following videos. Over the past 6 years I have been involved with over 500 different installation in Texas, Louisiana, and North Carolina. I am a NABCEP certified PV Installer and a Licensed Electrician. Georgetown, Texas announced in March, 2015, that it signed two deals making it the first city in Texas to be powered by 100% renewable energy. This video explores the reasons behind their decision, shows how it works, and discusses the conditions that made it possible.
Texas Renewable Energy is a dealer/distributor of renewable energy products e.g. solar panels, wind turbines, hydrogen cells, and geothermal equipment. Renewable energy is naturally replenishing energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, water, and geothermal heat. Texas Renewable Energy is also a registered federal contractor and State of Texas HUB Vendor that specializes in Environmental Consulting, which includes four services: a) Renewable Energy, b) Sustainability, c) Conservation, and d) Environmental Quality. http://www.texasrenewableenergy.x10host.com/
Texas has more wind power than every other state and all but a few other countries. The solar industry in Texas is up-and-coming. Texas is succeeding without cap and trade legislation. While the federal government is pushing for crippling new regulations and mandates that would amount to the largest tax hike in American history, Texas proves that states can "go green" with incentives and without harming the economy.
Pecan Street, located in Austin, Texas, functions as a pioneering test ground for use of alternative energy and claims to be one of the most efficient grids in the world. In the neighbourhood, solar production and electric consumption are measured and analysed, providing better insights on utilisation of energy sources. Al Jazeera’s Andy Gallacher reports from Austin.
Recently retired from Austin Energy, the municipal utility that serves Texas' capital, Michael Osborne negotiated the lowest price ever for utility scale solar energy. He is an expert on the dynamics of the emerging new smart, distributed grid.
Power prices in Texas have dropped significantly in the past few years due to low natural oil and gas costs and the growth of renewable energy sources. In this CreditMatters TV segment, Standard & Poor’s Associate Director Michael Ferguson explains how these factors will continue to affect power producers in Texas, particularly coal plants.
PORT ARTHUR - by Lauren Huet A renewable energy source is gaining popularity in Europe, and a large amount of this energy source comes from Southeast Texas. No, it's not oil. No, not natural gas, either. It's pine wood pellets. The cylindrical pellets are made from dried wood-chips, have a high energy density, and are burned to generate electricity and heating. The company German Pellets approached the Port of Port Arthur about two years ago. The two signed a 25 year contract for German Pellets to build five silos in the port, and ship thousands of tons of German Pellets to Europe. Construction on the silos finished in September, and German Pellet exports began in October. So each ship is going to pick up and deliver 50 thousand tons of pellets, going to Europe twice a month from Port A...
Renewable energy is continuing to grow from sources such as hydro, wind, solar, geo-thermal and bio-mass energy. And thanks to innovations at TI, the vision of access to energy that is smart, affordable and green is becoming a reality.
Leah C. Stokes is Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. This presentation is from the Renewable Energy and Climate Change Policy Workshop held October 1-2, 2015. For more information on the event, and for presentation slides and summaries, see http://carleton.ca/ces/energy-policy-workshop/
The webinar provides an overview of the competitive renewable energy zone (CREZ) process, including the regulatory, procedural and technical considerations that were critical to its successful implementation in Texas. The webinar also introduces a Renewable Energy Zones “Toolkit” that is intended to guide other power systems in adapting elements of the CREZ approach to their own power system planning processes.
Billions of dollars are going into the effort to reduce global warming - but is it an exercise in futility? U.S. President Donald Trump certainly thinks so. But is he being short-sighted in removing America from the Paris Climate Agreement? It was seen as a historic moment - the beginning of a global campaign to save the planet. The 2015 Paris Climate Agreement saw almost all the world's countries commit to reducing their emissions, with the United States leading the charge. But Donald Trump has made it clear he thinks it's a bad deal for America. But is it? As the rest of the world heads towards, cheaper, greener energy, some say the world's largest economy is missing a trick.. With fossil fuels polluting the earth’s atmosphere and being in finite supply, technological advances in renewable energy such as solar, hydropower and wind are becoming more essential for our future. Batteries are at the core of making renewables power possible. Our guest today is Duwayno Robertson. He’s an expert on batteries for future-forward automobiles and renewable energy systems. Duwayno was a Fisker Automotive lead engineer overseeing everything that interacted with the battery, helping to create the ahead-of-it’s-time Fisker Karma eco-luxury automobile with its solar paneled roof and groundbreaking hybrid engine. Since then he’s worked at two leading renewable-energy companies: Aquion and AGL, building a sustainable energy future. We explore a full range of renewable energy o...
This is incredible to see this switch occurring, and it looks like every Lithium demand report that has been produced in 2016 has got it wrong. After watching this video documentary, you can clearly see that global Lithium demand, maybe underestimated for our future. Published on May 5, 2016 It’s not in the papers but a silent revolution is moving across the world. Renewable energy is becoming cheaper than from fossil fuels. It means that progressively the choice for wind and solar energy is no longer an ethical one but an economic one. And this will speed up the transfer to renewable energy. In countries like Brazil, Australia, Chile and parts of the United States people consider renewable energy because of financial reasons. The price of solar and wind energy will continue to drop an...
Texas Tech Law's Energy Law Lecture Series hosts six high-profile speakers each year to expose students to various leaders in the energy industry. Craddick visited in April 2015. For a recap, visit http://techlawnews.law.ttu.edu/?p=3547.
One of Time Magazines 100 most influential people in the world, MIT Professor Donald Sadoway, describes the development of a new revolutionary, cost effective, and very durable grid storage liquid metal battery which will revolutionize the electric grid and solve energy storage problems for renewable energy such as solar and wind energy. The presentation was made at the February 18, 2015 MIT Enterprise Forum of Texas program in Houston.

In the young 21st Century, two realizations are dawning on the world's population: we are hopelessly dependent on petroleum, which is only going to get more expensive; and global warming, caused mainly by our burning of fossil fuels, will impact civilization in ways that we're only beginning to grasp. Stepping in to fight both of these massive problems are the rapidly evolving technologies that harness renewable energy. We will see how air, water, earth, and fire are transformed into clean, reliable sources of heat, electricity, and even automobile fuel. We'll take an in-depth look at the most proven and reliable sources: solar, wind, geothermal, biofuels, and tidal power. From the experimental to the tried-and-true, renewable energy sources are overflowing with potential... just waiting t...
